Choir Grading - Mrs. Halsey
Middle school and High School Choir
Cell Phones |
Students are required to turn in their cell phones to the front of the room at the beginning of each class. Students will be allowed to use cell phones as Mrs. Halsey gives permission.
Handbook | 20 points
Students and parents must sign and return handbook to Mrs. Halsey by August 30 to receive full credit. 2 points will be taken off daily after August 30. A signature ensures that both the student and parent are aware of the grading system and the requirements of the class.
Biweekly in-class assessment | 10 points
Students will answer 10 music term/theory questions from the music practice every two weeks during the end of the second week's choir period. Each question will be worth one point. This grade will be given biweekly on a Friday.
Quarterly reflection I 20 points
Students will write a 2-3 paragraph reflection on what they learned in the past quarter and what they can improve on for the next quarter. Their responses will be used to improve the progress of the next quarter and to give Mrs. Halsey feedback. Grading will be based on proper spelling, grammar, and thoughtful content.
Concerts/Performances | 40 points
Students are required to attend all performances (performance dates can be found under the Pep Band and Concert Date's page). Each performance is a final exam of student's work during class. Your student has the privilege to perform and show the hard work that has gone into each concert's preparation. Please plan your schedule accordingly. To find proper concert dress please go to the Concert Dress page.
*Note: Middle School and High School Concert dress may differ pending on performance.
Other possible class assignments:

Lettering in Choir
A student involved in music can earn a music letter by accumulating 450 points in any one academic year or by accumulating from year to year. Once the 450 points have been attained, the student can begin accumulating points towards another 450 points. The first year students will receive a certificate, letter, and lyre pin. Following the first year, students will receive additional lyre pins to represent their accomplishment.
